Animalistic Behavior: Chapter Five
Chapter Five: Suicidal RelapseI walked into chaos, dozens of police cars converged on the sparce portion of grass in front of the school. "What's the call Captain?" I heard a familiar voice ask. Over by a armored van Officer Monrow stood next to a giant of a cop, Capt. Hardy embossed on his name tag. "We're waiting, for SWAT Monrow chiefs orders. Monrow looked directly at me. "Tom, get behind something quick!" She ran over towards me, tackled me and pulled me behind a squad car. "I'm not that easy Monrow, you have to buy me dinner first!" her cheeks flushed red, at first as if a blush but then into anger. "You could've been killed!" I shook my head. "Hardly, the gunman's dead I guarantee it!" As we stood up the SWAT van arrived. "Well we'll see, SWAT's here." The Special Weapons And Tactics division exited the van in full tactical gear and breached the building. Monrow turned on gerald radio to the SWAT channel. Amid the static pops a voice came to the forefront. "Making breach!" SWAT commander said. "We need EMS standing by, many casualties!" They made their way further in, reaching the cafeteria. "Gunman approximately 15-16 years old, wearing hunting vest with ammo clips...DOA self inflicted gunshot wound to the head." Monrow looked at her radio then at me. "How did you know?" she asked. Monrow handed me a cup of coffee and sat down next to me. "Why is it that whenever something goes down, you're there?" she asked taking a sip. "I'm not sure" I said. "Just lucky I guess." She looked at me, but with a skeptical Cop look. "Seriously!" she said. "Seriously?" I asked. "Please." she said. "I don't think that these are isolated incidents." I pulled out a large stack of papers from my bag. "Murder suicides worldwide have been rising in recent months." She looked at me. "These tragic things happen, but it's hardly a conspiracy!" I shook my head. "It's not just people, animals are being affected as well. a heard of deer walked into the middle of afternoon traffic, one witness said that "the Alpha appeared to lead them intentionally." also a flock of geese following the lead male crashed into the fiftieth story of a highrise building." I flipped through the stack of papers. "That's not all, it's happened before!" "Before." I handed her a clipping from an old newspaper. "This is from a newspaper printed in 1809." Monrow grabbed the Xerox copy. "Horace Goodfellow was shocked to discover that a family of Beavers had died in a river, Goodfellow likened their appearance to a man who had drowned himself intentionally!" she handed it back. "It's been about 200 years." she said. "It goes back farther." I handed her a book. "Stories of the Native Americans." I flipped to a marled page. "It was called, "The Day's of Darkened skies" It deals with thousands and thousands of Crows falling out of the skies dead." "And I'm assuming this happened in..." I nodded. "Yes 1609." "So every 200 years something happens that causes people and animals to kill themselves and others?" "It's not as crazy...as it...seems." strained to get the words out. "Are you alright, here drink some water." As soon as the water filled the glass, events of the past weeks flooded back to me. I watched myself showeting, my mouth closed tightly, eating food without drinking anything, even the coffee she handed me sat undisturbed. "It's the water!" I said. "What?" she asked. "It's something in the water, that's why I was so dehydrated earlier this week I had been subconsciously neglecting my fluids, somehow I knew that it was the water!" "But I've been drinking water and I'm fine." She said. "Then it's only certain people and certain are who are susceptible to it." "But what if one of these people are with the military, they could kill millions!" I looked out the window, as the dusk sky vanished under a blanket of black clouds. |
