Animalistic Behavior: Chapter Four
Chapter Four: Suicide by DesignAfter spending a few days in the hospital I checked myself out. Hospitals and I never really clicked. I once stayed in one for two weeks fighting off an infection and if I ever stayed in one that long again I'd probably go crazy! I was cleared of any involvement in the deaths of Josh and his family but I decided to stay in town. My gut told me that all this death was connected the murders the suicide it wasn't as the news media had reported as "Isolated incidents" and "unfortunate accidents". In school I had found that I had an affinity for research, that's probably what lead to my career as a proofreader, and as every schoolchild knows the Library is the best place to do research. The Eaton Hall Library was located in near Eaton High, I would spend many hours there researching papers, reports or just reading. It hadn't changed much since my time say for the upgraded computers. I took a look back in past issues of the Morrison Gazett, the local Newspaper. "Father of three kills wife, kids self!" "Milltown Massacre leaves seven dead including gunman." "Mother poisons kids, shoots self." It was like I was falling head first into a summertime horror blockbuster. No one else could see it, but why was I immune? I thought I was going crazy, what's the old adage, "If you think you're going nuts you definitely are not." My attention turned to the door as a crowd appeared. As I neared the door I could see flashing red and blues the telltale sign of police cruisers. "I can't believe it!" somebody said. "What's going on?" I asked the group. "It's Eaton High, someone just walked in and started shooting!" Hearing the words caused my heart to skip a beat. "It's happening again!" I moved my way to the front of the group and went outside. |
