Animalistic Behavior: Chapter Three
Chapter Three: The See-Saw Suicide

After my last dream I decided to take some time off. I left town for greener pastures meaning my old hometown. My parents had long passed away, a new family lived there now and had done some drastic remodeling to the old Stewart homstead. The park on the other hand was pretty much the same, The jungel gym, monkeybars, metal slide that got hotter than lava in the summer and the see-saw, that damn deathtrap piece of wood, turned dusty brown from years of weather damage! I looked at my fore arm, the scar and my thoughts of that day 20 years ago. I had been riding up and down with Vince Franklin, a neighborhood boy who looked like he ate one to many Hershey Bars. I slipped off and fell to the ground below, it looked much farther when you were six! I hit ground and a piece of the deathtrap punctured my arm. I needed to have stitches. As I sat on a nearby bench I was joined by a guy, barely in the teens. "I thought I was the only one who came here!" he said. "After the last lawsuit they closed this park and built a new on across town." I looked at him. "Just entertaining some nostalgia." I said. "You live around here?" He asked. "Once upon a time, just visiting." I pointed to my once home. "I lived in that old Colonial over there." "No way, that's my house!" he said. "Well my parents house anyway, I'm Josh." he said handing me his hand. "Thomas Stewart." "No way, I found a school notebook of yours in the attic years ago." I looked at him. "Oh yeah I did horribly on an end of year exam and hid it before my parents saw it!" He chuckled. "A B plus is horrible man?" he said. "You didn't know my parents!" Josh stood up. "I'm gonna hang around a few minutes, What about you?" he asked. "I'm gonna sit here for a little while longer." "Oh." he said. "I'll try to keep it down."

I returned my attention to my own thoughts. I heard Josh grunt as he jumped on top of the See-Saw. After a minute he was quiet again. "Get bored?" I asked turning my head. Josh had tossed a rope over a high branch and tied it around his neck, using the See-Saw as a platform he let it fall pulling the nuse tight on his neck. I tried to pull him down but it was already to late. I ran to his house and pounded on the door. It slid open slowly, the lights were all off. My heart raced as I looked around the house for a phone. I walked into the darkened living room and tripped on something on the floor. Turnin on the lights I was shocked to see a young girl, her face blown off by a shotgun, that now sat on a nearby chair. On the couch two more bodies with sever gunshot trauma.

I sat in the police car, as the Medical Examiner wheeled the corpses out of the house, another cut Josh out of the tree. "Mr. Stewart?" I heard, She was right next to me but in my state of shock she sounded like she was miles away. "Mr. Stewart." she said again placing her hand on my sholder. "I'm officer Monrow, can you tell me anything else?" she asked. "I wac talking to him, for ten minutes!" I said. "He seemed so normal, one minute we were chatting about school, then the next he wax swinging from the tree!" She jotted down what I said. "That's when you ran over here?" she asked. "Yes, I was looking for help for the boy...Josh." She nodded. "And the door was open?" she asked. "Yes and the lights were off, I wish I had left thwm off!" "You discovered the bodies and called 911?" I nodded weakly. "Did he...kill them?" I asked. "I looks that way your typical murder/suicide, tragic for someone so young!" I nodded, a chore as my head felt like it weighed five hundred pounds. "Are you alright?" she asked me. "Feeling a little weak, don't know why just can't seem to keep..."

Ahh sweet blackness, I felt myself drift into nothingness and then I landed on a fluffy pink cloud. All around me children danced and sang, bunnies and kitties chased eachother as dogs bayed at the moon.

I awoke some time later, in a bright white room an IV in my arm. "That explains the trippy dream." I said. "Oh you're awake." A voice said. "It's officer Monrow right?" I asked her. "Yes, Abby." she said. "The doctor said you were severely dehydrated, that's why you passed out." "I knew I forgot something, drinking water!" She sat next to me. "The prints on the shotgun match Josh so you're in the clear." I looked at her. "I wad a suspect?" I asked. "Technically you were a 'person of interest' but yeah for about five minutes." she looked at her watch. "I gotta go, I'll tell the Doctor you're awake they want to keep you for observation." I smiled. "Thanks for checking up on me." She smiled. "Here's my card, call me some time." I laughed slightly as the doctor walked in. "How are you feeling Mr. Stewart?" he asked. "Better now that I have this in me." I said motioning towards the IV. "You found that dead family?" he asked. "Yeah." "That must've been aweful, but there things happen in patterns." I looked at him. "What things?" I asked "Murder/Suicides we have had three this year alone not counting the Josh Colby murders!"

The doctor continued to talk but for the life of me I cannot remember what he said. My mind wad swimming with confusion, first animals now people! Why was nobody else seeing this pattern, was I myself going crazy like Josh Colby or was I the only one seeing things clearly?
